Vasuma Eyewear presents three eyewear models in collaboration with renowned architect Gert Wingårdh, his son Rasmus, and their company Wingårdh & Wingårdh. “Gert’s persona is strongly associated with his distinctive glasses, and that became the starting point for this collection,” says Vasuma’s Creative Director, Jan Vana. “Creating a new ‘Gert frame’ felt natural.”
In addition to the frame inspired by Gert, the collection includes two more frames. All three models draw architectural details, featuring contrasts between straight lines and rounder shapes. The front is matte, while the rest of the frame is polished, with a project logo engraved on the top. “A lot of effort has gone into the details and tactile feel, as well as using top-quality components like 5-barrel hinges and Mazzucchelli’s M49 Eco Acetate,” adds Jan Vana.
Two years ago, when Gert and Rasmus started W&W, one of the first product categories they wanted to explore was eyewear, as Gert Wingårdh has almost become an eyewear icon by now. When they met, Rasmus discovered that he was neighbors with Jan Vana, designer and co-founder of Vasuma Eyewear. As sometimes happens
The Vasuma Wingårdh & Wingårdh frames come in two stylish color options: black and smokey ash. Handcrafted in Italy using Mazzucchelli’s M49 Eco Acetate, these frames feature durable 5-barrel hinges for lasting quality. The black version boasts a matte finish on both the front and temples.
Each frame is detailed with the ’project logo’ engraved on the top of the front and a 3D Vasuma Cobra symbol on the temple tip for a signature touch. Every pair comes complete with a protective case and a polishing cloth.
”To me, Vasuma is one of the best contemporary independent eyewear brands, with an exceptional sense of quality and craftsmanship, and a high standard for sustainability. It was really obvious to me who we should work with.” – Rasmus Wingårdh
