United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) announced it joined the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA).
GRMA serves a varied membership including manufacturers, retailers, public health organizations, certification bodies and trade associations. GRMA’s goal is to ensure consumers have access to safe, quality products, specifically in the dietary supplement, cosmetic and OTC drug markets.
“UNPA played a key role in the early stages of what eventually became the GRMA. It has a proven track record of bringing together the large retailer community to establish quality standards for dietary supplements sold by GRMA member retailers,” said UNPA President Loren Israelsen. “This partnership enhances UNPA’s mission to ensure dietary supplement safety, science, and quality.”
Allyn Shultis, executive director of GRMA, added, “Being able to collaborate with UNPA and their members to advance global quality and safety standards is at the heart of what we look to do as an organization. These types of partnerships only further advance our mission and promote the industry that we both collectively serve. UNPA is the type of organization that likes to get involved in initiatives that continue to promote the industry. In fact, it is already engaged in the Dietary Supplement Product Integrity Committee.”
