A new report from Healthnews (Vilnius, Lithuania) tapped into Google Trends data from 70 countries to gauge global consumer interest in longevity supplements in 2024. The analysis identified collagen, vitamin C, selenium, resveratrol and vitamin E the top five most googled longevity supplements globally.
According to the report, collagen was the most googled supplement in 39 of the 70 countries. It received 50 percent of the search volume among other popular supplements in Poland, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Italy, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Thailand. Collagen is known for improving skin firmness and elasticity.
The data also shows vitamin C emerged as the most googled anti-aging supplements in 26 countries. In Nigeria, queries accounted for 59 percent of interest, followed by 57 percent for Nepal, and 56 percent for both Norway and Indonesia, the report said. Vitamin C has become popular for its potential to combat oxidative stress and age-related diseases.
Resveratrol claimed first place in four Latin American countries, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Brazil. Comparative search volumes were 49 percent for Colombia and Mexico, 45 percent for Peru and 34 percent for Brazil, according to the report. Resveratrol is believed to activate pathways associated with longevity as well as providing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
According to the report, selenium was the top in two countries, China and Japan. It represented 56 percent and 47 percent of the comparative search volume, respectively. More than half of the countries, 37 out of 70, recorded fewer than 10 percent of searches. Selenium is a trace element that has been shown to support antioxidant defenses and overall cellular health, and may mitigate age-related oxidative stress and inflammation.
