Moleskine Eyewear announced the Eastman Acetate Renew Materials Collection — a fusion of design and eco-conscious practices. Through collaboration with the US Company Eastman, Moleskine Eyewear has established a closed-loop system embracing Eastman’s Renewed Acetate as the core material for this collection.
In Eastman’s RENEWED ACETATE:
- 42% BIO-BASED content derived from wood pulp cellulose that is FSC-certified.
- 28% RECYCLED content sourced from reprocessed waste plastic.
This composition ensures that 70% of the frames for Moleskine Eyewear are crafted from materials that are both sustainable and environmentally friendly, promoting ethical manufacturing practices.
Acetate Renew upholds the same design quality, comfort, and functionality as its traditional counterpart, while achieving a significant reduction in environmental impact—cutting the carbon footprint by as much as one-third in comparison to standard production methods. The new Moleskin collection features 7 unique models, with 4 acetate frames for men and 3 for women.
Men’s Collection
The MO1263-93 features a very classic tortoise pattern with blue temples. Crafted from full acetate, these frames showcase a new hinge design, exclusively customized for Moleskine eyewear, replicating the look of male belt buckles. The rectangular and large eye sharp makes them stylish. Additionally, these eyeglasses are available in three more colors: black, crystal grey with a subtle blue tone, and deep blue.
Women’s Collection
The acetate MO1260-02 frames feature a stylish gradient from black to grey on the front, complemented by Shiny Light Gold temples. The super-thin temple design includes the brand’s logo, which is laser-etched on top of the hinge system. With a round shape measuring 49mm and a keyhole bridge for a perfect fit, these eyeglasses are both fashionable and functional. The front and tips are made from renewed acetate, and they come in three additional color options: Crystal Green with shiny light gold, Dark Burgundy with Satin Rose Gold, and Striped Red with Shiny Light Gold.
About Moleskine
The Moleskine notebook is the heir and successor to the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent Van Gogh, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. Today, Moleskine offers an ecosystem of objects that fuel creative practice. The company began life as Modo&Modo, a small Milanese publisher that, in 1997, brought the original notebook back to life and established the Moleskine® trademark. Moleskine Srl was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange in 2013. The brand was acquired and delisted by D’Ieteren at the end of 2016. Moleskine Eyewear collection takes inspiration from all these values by bringing elegant, functional, extremely lightweight frames for its users.
