Dreams do come true…and it is also accurate that dream realization timing is frequently not our own. Luca Gnecchi Ruscone, founder and creator of L.G.R Eyewear, experienced this as he sought the best location for a Parisian boutique. He researched various arrondissements for a long time, before settling on a dynamic location in Le Marais, one of the most visited areas in Paris. This historic region flourishes with charming independent boutiques, creative restaurants and cafés, and the feeling of a genuine Parisian neighborhood.
“My long dream is coming true,” said Ruscone during our conversation, “and when a person enters our store, they are in the L.G.R world. I want this to be the most authentic experience that gives the customer energy. Clients like mono-brand stores as they feel part of a community. Now you can also keep close to that community with Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.”
The boutique is warm and welcoming, with a comfortable seating area for coffee and conversation while looking at the elegant, sleek collection of L.G.R designs. As Africa is the foundation for Ruscone’s venture into eyewear – he was inspired by his much-loved grandfather’s collection of vintage sunglasses – the boutique pays homage to his Eritrean roots. The atmosphere and aesthetics that permeated his grandfather’s boutique – Ottica Bini – in Asmara, flourish in this light-filled corner location on the invigorating Rue de Temple. Beautiful wood and artist impressions of Africa combine impressively with Ruscone’s Italian heritage.
The Paris location is L.G.R’s sixth boutique – the first opened in 2018 in Rome where there are two shops, plus Venice, Milan, and Florence. This is the first location abroad, and in keeping with Ruscone’s dreams for the development of the company, he is considering Dubai, Madrid, and then the American market.
Frames are openly displayed allowing clients to easily try on the designs, which include a stunning array of acetate, metal, and combinations in superb colors. Devoted wearers of L.G.R designs include the Prince of Wales; Lewis Hamilton; Tom Cruise; Karl Cook, who will participate with the American Equestrian Team at the Paris Olympics; Maria Sharapova; Lady Gaga, and Lily Collins, to mention only a few.
The official Paris opening gala was a delightful mix of fashion, friends, and artisans who arrived to join in the celebration of the Paris flagship boutique.
Ruscone’s enthusiasm and passion for eyewear is contagious. He is a fountain of exciting and enterprising concepts for design and optical retailing, while also cultivating his unique instinct for building a brand that offers imagination, service, community and continuity – all of which are prime importance to him. Collaborations are also a vital part of the L.G.R philosophy. “It’s important to bring fresh blood and new creative ideas to customers, so we like to work with a variety of brands,” noted Ruscone. L.G.R collaborated with Netflex for the Emily in Paris series; Hotel Cipriani Venice; Diane von Furstenberg, and other partnerships are being explored.
Luca Gnecchi Ruscone is celebrating his 15th anniversary since setting up L.G.R. His commitment to excellence, precision, determination, professional, and creative authenticity, are inspirations to keep on keeping on, and never lose sight of or believe that dreams do come true.
