Technically, each full Moon takes place only at a precise instant. According to astrology, though, its reverberations quietly linger. That means we experience the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) sway of each of the full moons in 2025 for days and months afterward. You can rely on the Moon in all her fullness to illuminate the darkness, and there is something quietly reassuring in the knowing that this happens every 29 and a half days.
How the Full Moons of 2025 Influence You
Astrology is based upon the understanding that each planetary object possesses its own vibe and voice, not unlike the concept of archetypes explored in Jungian psychology. Each captures certain aspects and tendencies that are part of our personalities. The Moon is considered to embody our emotions, our desires, and our more passive tendencies, including our shadows that unconsciously determine our perceptions and behaviors.
Like the Sun and Earth and other planets, the Moon transits through the constellations and the accompanying signs of the zodiac in order, starting with Aries, then Taurus, followed by Gemini, and so on. As the Moon dances from sign to sign every two and a half days, its mood changes—and so does ours.
Everything in our psyche and our emotional body is filtered through the sign ruling the Moon at that moment. We experience the shift subtly, often without even knowing we are under the spell of a particular sign. Yet we slip into that archetype’s approach to observing, interpreting, and responding to situations.
It is understood that the Moon being fully illuminated heightens the magnitude of our emotions and the effect of its ruling sign, especially as relates to those things that we keep hidden, even from ourselves. We feel things more intensely.
Why It’s About More Than Any One Full Moon
Whereas much of pop culture places attention on the full Moon’s capacity for bringing desires into manifestation, what tends to be lost is the emphasis that the ancients placed on the cyclical nature of the lunar and astrological cycles.
We experience each full Moon throughout the year in a different sign of the zodiac for a reason. These cycles repeat again and again, allowing each subsequent full Moon to build on the lessons of previous full Moons. If we are paying attention, we can observe how our self-awareness evolves.
Instead of expecting the full Moons of 2025 to bring something into our tangible reality, perhaps we should allow them to show us enhanced knowledge as we progress through these different signs over time. Rather than expect outright changes in life, perhaps the true takeaway of the full Moon is our ever-evolving understanding of ourselves over time.
Consider the repeated circling through the zodiac as an upward spiral. Each full Moon draws you more and more into awareness and understanding of self. The question isn’t so much what is the Moon doing to you, but what has it been teaching you? How has your understanding of self changed since the last time the Moon was full in the same sign? (Journalers, take note of that writing prompt.)

How Many Super Full Moons in 2025?
A super Moon takes place when the full Moon coincides with the Moon being at a closer-than-usual proximity to Earth in its elliptical orbit. What results is the full Moon appearing to loom slightly larger as it’s closest to the horizon. Because super Moons exert a stronger gravitational draw on the Earth, the result is higher tides and, it is believed, an exaggerated effect on our moods.
There are three super full moons in 2025 that will take place in the months of October, November, and December.
Are There Any Blue Moons in 2025?
There are varying definitions and traditions surrounding the term “blue Moon.” It refers to the rare experience of two full Moons in a single calendar month or four, rather than the usual three, full Moons taking place between solstice and equinox. The effects of it are the heightened sensitivity that accompanies any full Moon. There are no lunations that align with that criteria in 2025.
