The Vitamin Shoppe (Secaucus, NJ) released its annual Health & Wellness Trend Report for 2024 to provide insights into the top consumer trends in the nutritional supplements industry.
According to the company, the report leverages data from The Vitamin Shoppe’s 700 retail locations and website, as well as data from SPINS. Additionally, The Vitamin Shoppe commissioned an exclusive “2024 Consumer Survey” by Talker Research to provide further context and insights behind the trends.
According to the report, the top five trends of 2024 were nutritional support for GLP-1 users, longevity, gut health, women’s health and functional beverages.
The sales shifts and themes in the report emerged during a post-pandemic period. According to The Vitamin Shoppe Consumer Survey, 55 percent of Americans said they were “much more” or “somewhat more” since the pandemic, 35 percent said, “neither more or less” and 10 percent said “less.”
Although Ozempic and other GLP-1 prescriptions emerged as a top consumer issue, more Americans are focused on emotional health (35 percent) and sleep (33 percent) than weight control, according to the survey.
“The Vitamin Shoppe offers the largest selection of vitamins, supplements, and sports nutrition products of any retailer in America, so we are uniquely positioned to understand the behaviors, attitudes, and goals of the wellness consumer,” said Lee Wright, CEO of The Vitamin Shoppe. “It’s a time of meaningful evolution in our industry, with innovations such as GLP-1 medications driving increased attention on the importance of healthy nutrition while social media continues to create surges of interest in a wide range of health and wellness supplements and products.”
