We are often moved by how big something is, especially in the U.S. For example, if the state of Texas were a country, it would be the 40th largest country in the world, larger than any country in Europe. The King Ranch in Texas is the largest in the U.S. at 825, 000 acres. We are often equally as impressed with how small some things are. Vatican City, in the middle of Rome, boasts an official population of 825 and encompasses a total of 109 acres.
Just over 1000 km from Vatican City there is another small country, though not nearly as small as the city-state headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, of Andorra. Andorra is an independent principality that lies between France and Spain. Andorra la Vella is the highest capital city in Europe with an elevation of just over 1,000 meters or 3,356 feet above sea level.
Andorra la Vella is also one of two new frames from Laibach & York, part of their capital collection. The new Andorra la Vella, The Andorra la Vella is a distinctive thick-faced butterly influenced cat-eye frame with a 47-eye size that comes in black, marbled tortoise, and green camouflage. Handmade from premium Italian acetate in Slovenia like the entire Laibach & York collection, this model is sure to rise high above the rest.
Heading 7,810 km or 4,852 miles to the west, we find ourselves in Havana, the capital of Cuba, just a little over 100 miles from the coast of Florida. Havana attracts over 1 million tourists a year, only a fraction of who are from the U.S. Among Havana’s most renowned attractions are the classic 1950s automobiles that can still be seen cruising up and down just about any Havana street. While so many of them exude those classic lines missing from most of today’s automobiles, under the hoods, most have been modified with new engines, suspensions, etc.
Like the classic cars that cruise along Obispo Street or the Malecón in Havana, the new Havana frame from Laibach & York is a wonderful square oversized homage to the classic 1950s with a 55-eye size. Handmade from premium Italian acetate in Slovenia, these sculpted square shapes are both sophisticated and stylish. The Havana is available in dark chocolate tortoise, burgundy tortoise, and dark jade tortoise. These wonderful new frames are sure to turn heads with fashionistas everywhere.
“Both the Adorra la Vella and Havana bring to life the styles so many shops have said their customers have been asking for. These two new additions to our catalog have been hits with everyone we’ve shown them to.” Blaž Oberč, Founder/Designer, Laibach & York
