After I first obtained my ADHD prognosis—and began remedy — I assumed life would start to work out the best way I thought it was imagined to. However I rapidly realized that wasn’t going to be the case.

For me, having ADHD looks like my thoughts goes 1,000 mph till it lastly lands on one thing. See, it doesn’t matter whether or not I add or subtract issues from my to-do lists, as a result of there’s at all times a voice at the back of my thoughts reminding me that I must be doing one thing else.

Sometimes, I’m in a position to do the laborious work of staying centered and on process. However there are nonetheless days once I wrestle. I can have a gentle tempo going for days—possibly even weeks — at a time. However as soon as one thing modifications in my mind, I discover myself falling off of the progress I had made.

It’s as if I’ve all of the sudden stopped functioning “correctly.” It’s irritating. I don’t prefer it. And typically, I beat myself up over it.

“I can’t imagine I’m nonetheless doing this. Now it’s going to take even longer to finish this one factor.”

“That process may have been carried out some time in the past.”

When these ideas start to fill my head, it’s laborious to discover a method to silence them or transfer on. In a means, I didn’t do one thing. And it takes quite a bit to persuade myself to begin over, as a result of failure doesn’t really feel good.

However then forgiveness comes into play.

Typically it’s simple to forgive myself for falling off of a superb behavior or venture. Different instances it’s a bit tougher.

I’ve needed to begin asking myself what’s extra vital: finishing a process at my very best or simply merely finishing it? For me, the reply is solely finishing it.
