Living with Inattentive ADHD: Climbing the Circular Staircase

A diagnosis of ADHD doesn’t define your child’s future.

With the right support, tools, and love, your child can thrive and achieve great things. Here are some key points to remember:

ADHD is a Different Way of Learning: A diagnosis doesn’t mean your child is incapable of learning. They just need different approaches and strategies.

The Brain is Adaptable: Acceptance and support can positively impact a child’s development, even with ADHD.

Focus on Strengths: Understanding your child’s unique strengths can help them build confidence and find success.

Quality Time Matters: Spending time together can strengthen your bond and reduce unwanted behaviors.

Positive Reinforcement: Catch your child doing good things and praise them for their efforts. This can boost their motivation.

Collaborative Problem-Solving: Involve your child in finding solutions to challenges. This empowers them and strengthens your relationship.

Avoid Negative Feedback: Focus on your child’s strengths and avoid criticizing their ADHD symptoms. Negative feedback can lead to self-esteem issues.

Be Mindful of Rejection Sensitivity: Children with ADHD may be more sensitive to criticism. Understanding this can help you respond with empathy and support.

Remember, you are not alone on this journey. Many resources and support groups are available to help you and your child thrive.
